The Power of Cultivating Gratitude to Get What You Want

The power of cultivating gratitude is leaving a real profound effect on my life. I have been practicing gratitude for the past 4-5 years and the results from my gratitude thoughts still amaze me.

I firmly believe that gratitude is the easiest and most profound way to get what you desire in life and maintain a prosperous state of being. Even though I've been cultivating gratitude for 4-5 years, just over the past year I have really been seeing astounding results.

Before this year, my words of gratitude and thanks haven't done much for me. I now know the reason why gratitude didn't first work for me----that reason was because I unconsciously tried to manipulate gratitude in trying to get what I wanted.

In other words, I only “used gratitude” for trying to attract what I wanted in my life. It doesn't work like that. You can't fool the Universe if you're not giving sincere appreciation and thanks for what you have and what you want. You may be able to fool your local police officer out of a speeding ticket. “I'm sorry officer I didn't know the speed limit was 25 MPH on this road. I promise it won't happen again.” But, you can't fool the Universe in anything.

When I first learned the power of cultivating gratitude, I thought, “Cool! A fast and easy way to get the things I want.” Well, it wasn't so cool when I became disappointed when the results didn't come in. Apparently, I still needed more gratitude lessons.

However, I kept the faith and still practiced cultivating gratitude because it did feel good and peaceful time to time.

Then, one day, I realized that I was using gratitude for all the wrong reasons. I didn't have a deep appreciation for what I have or what I wanted. Me giving thanks just wasn't sincere.

So, I decided to change my mindset and practice giving thanks just because it felt good and to be real sincere for what I have. I left all expectation of my intentions being manifested through gratitude behind. I practiced cultivating gratitude to just give sincere thanks for the blessings I really have in life.

When I did this, my results changed almost over night. Better and bigger opportunities came into my life, I bought my own home, my tenants started paying on time, great business ideas came to me, and my relationship with my parents and girlfriend grew closer.

Can I tribute this all to cultivating gratitude? Yes. I believe the main reason on why many of my intentions took so long to manifest or never manifested is because I didn't feel the right feelings that would manifest my intentions.

In other words, I was out of harmony with what I really wanted in life. I had the image and the gratitude thoughts. I also had the action piece. However, I was missing the feeling component that sends out and attracts similar vibrations and energies in harmony with what I wanted.

Experiencing sincere and honest gratitude helped me hone in on the feeling part for the law of attraction. Just being grateful for what I had and what is coming into my life put me in a vibration of happiness, expectation, confidence, peace, and well-being.

You know what, the happier I felt in this moment, the easier my intentions manifested in bigger and better ways.

Recently, I just moved from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire. I really like the Portsmouth area and felt it was the right move for me. There were many factors involved on why I did this---business, family, and growing a closer relationship with my girlfriend (she's from there:).

It was a tough move. I grew up a die hard Steelers and Penguins fan and my Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, and the Dog still live there. However, the move was essential for my growth, so that was the ultimate decision on why I did move.

On a beautiful Sunday morning around 1pm, my girlfriend and I packed my truck to the max and headed our way to New Hampshire! It's about a 10-12 hour drive depending on traffic and how many stops you take.

Our plan was to drive 8 hours to Hartford and sleep at the Holiday Inn for the night.

Well, our trip didn't go exactly to plan. Within the first 4 hours of the trip we were stopped in traffic for maybe an hour. It was like sitting in a parking lot. People were blaring their horns and getting anxious.

The easy path for us was to start complaining and getting all frustrated because of the traffic. However, we understood that route was pointless because no matter how much we complained we knew that wasn't going to change our situation. So, instead, we decided to practice cultivating gratitude and appreciation and gave thanks knowing that there was a reason for this block in traffic.

Eventually, we started moving again and our journey was back on track. A few stops here and a few stops there and ten hours later we arrived in Hartford. The trip to Hartford should of taken us 8 hours max! But, it took ten!

We got in around 11pm and we were both exhausted and starving. All we wanted to do was eat and sleep. When we checked into the hotel and got to our rooms, we noticed something wasn't right. The room looked like it was broken into. The door was wide open, closet light was on, and the windows were wide open.

I checked my gut instinct and something just didn't feel right. At this point, anyone else would of been furious. They probably would of gotten on the phone and expressed their anger to the front desk attendant about their room being a mess. I mean, that front desk attendant should of gotten a verbal bashing, right? We just drove ten hours and wanted to sleep!

However, I agreed with my girlfriend that we should get another room. But, I remained calmed and I actually told my girlfriend that we should appreciate that this happened. Thankfully we weren't here when the room was broken into. Maybe that's why we sat in traffic for an hour six hours earlier.

We both gave sincere words of gratitude and thanks and called the front desk. I had a cheerful voice and asked him if he would kindly give us a new room. The front desk attendant came down, checked out the messed up room, and agreed to give us a new room.

However, he didn't give us any new room. He decided to upgrade us to a Junior Executive Suite. He said he appreciated our patience and knew that we driven a far way. He then said that anyone else would of flipped out on him.

He thanked us for our appreciation and patience and said enjoy the room.

The next morning we decided to grab some coffee before we embarked on the last 3 hours of our journey. We ordered our coffee and I received the wrong type of Joe. I kindly went back to the drive thru and said, “Thank you madam for this coffee, however, I ordered a hot coffee not an iced coffee.” She said, “I'm sorry sir, here is your hot coffee and thank you for being patient. Here is also a free coffee on me, you can have your money back.”

Too cool!

I know these stories may seem trivial to some people or just plain coincidence, but they also may be synchronicity for something big to come.

I may be on the “reaping the harvest” end of the spectrum and it's possible I'm being rewarded for all the great energy I'm putting out into this world.

I strongly recommend cultivating gratitude whenever it comes to mind, especially in the midst of chaos. I use to wear a wrist band (a fashionable one) on my left wrist as a reminder to give thanks for something in this moment.

All you have to do is give words of gratitude and thanks by saying, “Thank you for...” whatever you're sincerely thankful for right now. Everyone has something to be thankful for. Even if it's just being alive and healthy.

As you start cultivating gratitude, you'll begin to notice that your life is perfectly fine the way it is right now. Sure, it's great to improve and grow yourself, but cultivating gratitude will help eliminate the desperate need and wanting for improving your circumstance.

The fastest way to attract something into your life is to not need it. Cultivating gratitude puts you in a vibration of prosperity and “not needing.”

You must practice cultivating gratitude with the utmost sincere and honest appreciation. You can't fool and trick the Universe. It will know every time whether you mean giving thanks or not.

Make a list of everything your grateful for right now, then notice the shift in your feelings and mood. You should feel lighter, happier, more confident, and even joyful. When you feel a positive shift in your mood and feelings, you know you're practicing gratitude correctly.

I'm thankful that you are reading, enjoying, and transforming your life for the better :)
